Our app allows teenagers to perform fitness benchmarks.
Each benchmark consists of four tasks: Dexterity, Fast walk, Run, and Push-ups.
Dexterity: Test motor function (the ability to use and control muscles and movements, is integrally related to daily functioning and quality of life.). You are to use your dominant hand thumb. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3662336/
Walk/Run: Uses GPS sensor from iPhone to calculate the distance walked/run. The longer the distance covered in the specified amount of time (4 min walk and 1 min run), the better.
Push-ups: A measure of upper-body strength. The more push-ups that can be done, the healthier and stronger the person is.
Besides performing benchmarks, the user has access to a leaderboard showing top 10 people in each task. The user also has access to a time series plot of their progress in each task.
Strive for a healthy you by performing your best on each successive benchmark. Then compare, monitor your progress, and compete for the top spot on the leaderboard!
* Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
